Download QTac for Windows
QTac runs on Windows 10 and 11. It is a zip holding one folder with QTac.exe inside: no installer, no runtime to add, no administrator rights, and nothing written outside the folder you choose.
Installing
- Download the zip above.
- Right-click it, Extract All, and choose where it should live:
C:\QTac, your Documents, or a USB stick. Run it from the folder it makes, not from inside the zip. - Open the folder and start QTac.exe. Windows may warn that the publisher is not recognised: choose More info, then Run anyway. We are a small firm and a code-signing certificate is on the list for later.
- Right-click
QTac.exeand Pin to Start or Send to > Desktop if you want it to hand. - Start QTac, accept the Terms, and create your free account.
To move it to another folder or another computer, copy the whole folder. To remove it, delete the folder.
Your free 14 days start when the account is made, not when you download.
For DWG files
DWG is converted on import using the free ODA File Converter from the Open Design Alliance. Install it if you work in DWG; DXF and PDF need nothing extra.
Checking an installed copy
Run this in a command prompt to have QTac test itself and write a report:
"C:\QTac\QTac.exe" --self-test "%TEMP%\qtac-self-test.txt"
(using wherever you extracted it, in place of C:\QTac)
Every line of the report should say PASS.
Updates
Open QTac, go to the Support tab and press Check for Updates. It tells you what you have and what is available; the Download button turns on only when there is something newer. QTac never installs anything by itself.
